Papdale drop-in planned

Date: 28 January 2019

Time: 12:32

A drop-in event takes place later this week (Friday 1 February) to give people the chance to talk over ideas for the future development of Papdale East Playpark and surrounding footpaths.

Landscape architect Paul Mosely will be on hand at the Lambaness centre for informal discussions with the local community.

Paul was part of the Planning Aid for Scotland Team which carried out the Your Kirkwall engagement exercise in 2018, when a number of ideas for the Papdale area were put forward.

He has been appointed to help develop these further with the local community after an award of funding through Sustrans’ Community Links Programme. Sustrans is a charity that supports projects that make it easier for people to walk and cycle. The Papdale East Playpark Association (PEPA) worked with Orkney Islands Council in developing the bid for funding from Sustrans.

With support from PEPA, drop-in sessions take place at the Lambaness centre on Friday 1 February from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 18:00 to 20:00. All are welcome.

Paul will also meet with groups and organisations with an interest in the area, including pupils at Papdale Primary and Kirkwall Grammar School, Access Panel Orkney, Cycle UK and the Council.

He will return at a later date with some more detailed proposals and for further discussion on how these might be taken forward in future.
