Open day at biodiversity records centre
Date: 12 July 2017
Time: 01:11
Have you been out on a walk lately and spotted an unusual creature or plant that you didn’t recognise?
An event being held at the Orkney Library and Archive next Saturday (15 July) could help you solve the mystery.
The Orkney Library and Archive is home to the Orkney Wildlife Information and Records Centre, which is responsible for collecting and storing biological records in Orkney.
They are holding an open afternoon where folk can come along and find out more about the service. Experts will be on hand to identify any creatures and plants that you may have found and don’t recognise. Microscopes will be available to look more closely at specimens. You can bring along good quality photographs for identification.
The Lorimers Moth and Butterfly collections will be available to view.
The event takes place between 12 midday and 16:30 on Saturday 15 July in the MacGillivray Room in the Orkney Library and Archive. For more information email biodiversity@orkney.gov.uk or phone 01865873166.
