Families Outside is running an online “Our Voice” peer support group event later this month for children and young people who have a parent/s in prison.
Keith Bendall, Community Justice, Planning, Performance and Information Officer, Orkney Health and Care, explained that many children and young people throughout Scotland are affected by parental imprisonment every year.
“For any families affected in Orkney, we would encourage participation within the peer support group, which offers support to children and young people aged between 8-18 years affected by parental imprisonment.
“The group is currently being delivered via Zoom online and is for all children, young people and families whether they have regular contact with their family member in prison, or no contact at all.”
The next support group is due to go ahead on Thursday 27 May from 6-7.30pm via Zoom.
Further information is available from Keith he can be contacted at keith.bendall@orkney.gov.uk or via telephone on 01856873535, extension 2660.
