OIC to address Finstown road surface concerns
Date: 23 September 2021
Time: 09:00
Orkney Islands Council is inviting tenders for much anticipated road surfacing repair works in Finstown.
The works, which are expected to take two weeks, will involve resurfacing of around 1,500 square metres over the full width of the carriageway in the village east of the Old Finstown Road junction. In addition, there will be some smaller isolated locations where it will be necessary to carry out deeper pavement repairs to address underlying issues with the old structure.
During the works, traffic restrictions and diversions are likely to be in place. Further advance notice of this will be given once the £75,000 contract has been awarded and a programme agreed.
The Council would like to thank the public for their patience in awaiting the much-needed repair works and for their ongoing cooperation and understanding for the disruption that will occur while the programme is carried out.
The Finstown works are part of the current annual Roads Maintenance Programme which has been boosted by an additional £2.1 million of funding over the next two years by the OIC to deliver road maintenance repairs across Mainland Orkney and the isles.
The tender can be viewed on the Public Contracts Scotland website.
The closing date is 1 October.
