New year road works
Date: 22 December 2021
Road resurfacing and patching works are finished for 2021, but here is a look ahead to road works starting in the new year:
From 17 January there will be works on Outertown Road, Stromness, expected to be underway for around four days. The works will be carried out under road closure conditions, but closures will be kept to a minimum in order to maintain a reasonable amount of access to the properties along the Outertown Road.
Also programmed to start from 17 January are works on Grainshore Road, Kirkwall/St Ola. It's currently planned for these works to be carried out using temporary traffic signals and road closures where required, with access being maintained to affected businesses, albeit that there may be delays in access due to the nature of the works. These works are expected to take around two weeks to complete.
As with all of our works at this time of year these works may be subject to delays, reprogramming or cancellation due to weather.
Updates will be published on the Council's OIC Updates page, the News section of our website www.orkney.gov.uk, and made available to local press.
