Moving on Up!
Date: 23 May 2023
The Council’s Pupil Engagement Team and Papdale Parent Council are planning a free pop-up event supporting pupils moving up to Kirkwall Grammar School.
They are appealing for anyone with KGS uniform clothes – including hoodies, t-shirts, shirts and ties – pre-worn, nearly new or even unworn, to drop them off at the Papdale Primary School Office during school hours throughout May.
They are also keen for any donations of PE kits – shorts, sports leggings, t-shirts and trainers.
Papdale’s Pupil Engagement Worker, Charlotte Milne, said: “We love a bit of recycling here at Papdale! This latest ask is part of our ongoing drive to ensure pre-loved items are kept out of landfill while benefiting someone else. It’s great to instil a sense of reusing in our young people as well – something which they will hopefully take with them into adulthood.
“We are asking folk to donate their KGS uniform clothes and any suitable sportswear to give P7 pupils moving on up to KGS the added option to choose a free outfit. It saves having to buy new, gives an item a new home ensuring it doesn’t end up in the bin – win, win, win!
“We would also welcome donations for any age group suitable for S1-6 so as any secondary year student can benefit.”
More updates will follow.
