More snow forecast - black ice risk tonight
Date: 5 April 2021
Time: 09:45
A Met Office Yellow Warning for wind and snow remains in place for Orkney - with frequent snow and hail showers, accompanied by a very strong northerly wind, forecast throughout the day.
The Council's gritter and snow plough drivers have been working since 6am tackling the overnight falls.
If you need to be out and about today please take great care - winds gusting to 60mph are creating drifts of snow on some roads and visibility can be very poor when the snow showers pass through.
The temperature is expected to drop well below freezing again tonight, creating the risk of black ice and icy patches - potentially with snow lying on top.
