A short film featuring local people getting active has been released by Orkney Islands Council and the Pickaquoy Centre.

The aim of the film is to help raise awareness of their new joint ‘ActiveLife’ scheme launching on January 16.

The scheme gives access to 12 leisure facilities across Orkney under one affordable individual, family or budget membership. Activities include access to pools and health suites, climbing and racket sports, gyms and exercise equipment, kids inflatables and soft play, and exercise classes at the facilities – around 50 available each week.

Chair of the Council’s Education, Leisure and Housing Committee, Harvey Johnston, said: “We wanted to feature local people in the ActiveLife publicity as much as we could – we hope folk enjoy seeing some familiar faces and feel inspired to be more active more often too.”

The video has been put together by well-known local filmmaker Mark Jenkins. It can be accessed from the Orkney Islands Council Youtube Channel.
