Local Development Plan - upcoming drop in meetings
Date: 4 June 2024
Drop in meetings are being held in Dounby, Kirkwall and St Margaret’s Hope this month as part of the Orkney Local Development Plan review process.
The review of Orkney’s Local Development Plan will help to shape the future of Orkney’s towns, villages and rural areas, including where development should and shouldn’t happen.
The Council’s Development and Marine Planning Team are currently in the evidence gathering stage of the process and the meetings will provide an opportunity for the public, key stakeholders, and landowners to come along and understand the review process and provide their early ideas and thoughts for the future of their local area - and Orkney as a whole.
A drop in session held in Stromness last month was attended by over 60 people.
The next round of meetings are as follows:
- Dounby Community School on 7th June at 4.30pm to 7.30pm
- Kirkwall Town Hall on 13th June at 11am to 6.00pm
- St Margarets Hope School on 20th June at 1pm to 6.30pm
More information on the Local Development Plan review process is available at www.orkney.gov.uk/OrkneyLDP
Online surveys are also available at www.orkney.gov.uk/OrkneyLDP
The Development and Marine Planning Team will also be in attendance at the Orkney Partnership’s Orkney Matters 2 consultation events that are running over the summer.
