KGS Peter Higgs Science Award 2020
Date: 18 May 2021
Time: 08:42
We are delighted to be able to celebrate the success of some of our exceptional young Scientists here at KGS.
The award is sponsored by the Orkney International Science Festival and is presented to our top Science Student at Higher level. This year we broke with tradition a little and awarded 5 runners-up medals along with the winners’ trophy presented to outstanding Scientist, Matilda Simpson.
The award would normally be presented at the Science Festival, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic this was delayed. Travel restrictions meant we were unable to have the award presented by someone from outwith the school but we were delighted that the award was presented this year by Mr David B Fletcher, who has been a real inspiration for these young Scientists in his time teaching Chemistry here at KGS.
