Junction Road works set to pause
Date: 2 May 2018

Road works on Junction and New Scapa Road will pause for the summer as the Council gears up for its annual surface dressing.
It’s expected ‘Phase 1’ of the section of Junction Road roadworks up to the north side of Wellington/Main Street junction will be completed by the end of this week.
‘Phase 2’ – from the Wellington/Main Street junction up to Hornersquoy – will be deferred until the autumn.
This will free up staff and resources to prepare for surface dressing across Orkney, including pre-patching as required ahead works starting on 14 May, weather permitting.
Darren Richardson, Head of Infrastructure and Strategic Projects, said: “With Phase 1 of Junction Rd roadworks now nearing completion we’ve reviewed our priorities for the remainder of the surfacing season and need to concentrate our efforts on surface dressing to take best advantage of Orkney’s summer weather window.”
Details of the surface dressing programme will be made available in coming days.
