It's definitely looking a lot like Christmas at Glaitness Centre!

Staff have been working hard at the Glaitness Centre in Kirkwall to bring some Christmas cheer to the residents and visitors during the festive season.

In November they put a call out to local people and staff for donations of old decorations that they could use and received a fantastic response. They also received support from local charity shops to help them ‘deck the halls’.

Karl Kemp, Duty Manager said: “We have a lot to celebrate this year after our Very Good rating by the Care Inspectorate in October.

"The team here wanted to do something a little over the top as during Covid it wasn’t possible and a lot of people in our small community were isolated.

“Our residents have already enjoyed a meal at a local restaurant and today we will have a get together for service users, friends and family surrounded by the decorations. You can’t help smiling now at Glaitness, it’s so full of Christmas cheer.”

Glaitness Centre is a Day Centre run by Orkney Health and Care for people aged 16 to 65 who have physical disabilities and / or sensory impairments. Find out more on our Day Centres webpage.
