Islands Deal supplier information webinar to be held

A webinar is being held next month to provide information to local suppliers about the the projects and opportunities that are arising across across Orkney, Shetland and the Outer Hebrides from the Islands Growth Deal.
The free webinar, being hosted by the Supplier Development Programme, in partnership with the Islands Growth Deal, takes place on Tuesday 5th March from 2-3:30pm.
The Islands Growth Deal is a 10-year package of investment that will seek to drive economic growth and the creation of sustainable jobs across Shetland, Orkney and the Outer Hebrides.
Jointly funded by UK and Scottish Government, the funding will be invested in 16 projects and programmes across three strategic themes: low carbon, supporting growth and future industries, and thriving sustainable communities.
Through the deal funding it is aimed to deliver up to 1,300 jobs across the three island groups by 2032, improve economic productivity and support the islands to become on of the first places in the UK to achieve net zero.
The webinar will cover a number of sectors supported through the Islands Growth Deal including:
- Aerospace
- Economic Infrastructure, renewables, green energy & ports
- Food and Drink
- Energy, Circular Economy & Environment
- Tourism
An introduction from each of the three islands will be presented for suppliers to learn about some of the projects and opportunities across Orkney, Shetland and the Outer Hebrides that are planned for the next decade. The webinar will also provide information regarding free support available to businesses and social enterprises to bid for public sector contracts.
