Orkney's annual 'Meet the Buyer' networking event takes place on 10 October.

'Meet the Buyer' is an opportunity for businesses interested in working with the local public sector (including NHSO) to find out more about the contracts that are available and the process for tendering for these.

Last year's event attracted over 50 attendees.

The event will include a series of workshops focusing in upcoming school and public bus transport contracts, energy efficiency services contracts and available support for suppliers who are thinking of bidding for contracts.

Gillian Morrison is the Council's Executive Director of Corporate Services. She said: "The Council has an ongoing commitment to the Orkney business community and to local economic development.

"The event is going from strength to strength, with it now a firm fixture in the local business calendar. We have some significant contracts coming out for tender in the near future, including our bus contracts, which offers some great opportunities for local firms and this is a great chance to find out more about them.

"We are looking forward to engaging with suppliers both local and from further afield at this event."

The event takes place on Wednesday October 10 in the Orkney Library and Archive in Kirkwall from 09.30 to 14.30. To find out more about the event or to book a place contact Business Gateway Orkney on 01856898595. Registration can also be done via EventBrite.
