Important notice from Orkney Ferries – Kirkwall Office closure 13 November
Date: 13 November 2021
Orkney Ferries Kirkwall Office has had to close as a result of Public Health self-isolation COVID-19 requirements.
Bookings will be unavailable either by phone or in person at the Kirkwall Office at present.
We would like to reassure passengers that bookings already made will be honoured and in regards to all other travel, it will be on a first come, first served basis at the vessel. All other ferry services continue to operate as normal.
The Council’s Head of Marine Services, Transportation and Harbour Master, Jim Buck said: “We received notification late last evening of a positive PCR test among a member of staff. Test and trace have been in touch with all close contacts and PCRs tests were carried out this morning and we await those results. We must thank Public Health for looking to expediate those given the key worker status of staff.
“We are looking at a contingency plan which may allow for the return of a limited booking service as soon as possible next week. We apologise for any inconvenience which this may cause to the travelling public.
“Please continue to follow the guidance in regards to mitigating the community transmission of the virus, which includes social distancing, wearing face coverings, ensuring good ventilation when inside.”
