A wealth of housing related information has been published in the Council’s Housing Services latest newsletter “Housing News”.

Some of the topics include the new development at Carness, the Housing Services Annual Report, the reintroduction of sheltered housing coffee mornings, rent arrears and what to do, tips around damp and condensation and a host of others.

The Council’s Head of Community Learning, Leisure and Housing, Frances Troup, said she would encourage all tenants to take a look at the newsletter.

“The team have worked hard to include information on a wide range of matters that we know are important to our tenants. This has been presented in an easy to understand format and we hope will answer many of the questions that may arise from time to time.

“In addition to general housing related information, we are conscious of the challenging times that we continue to find ourselves in and that is why we have included a raft of detail on money-related matters such as housing benefit, universal credit, hardship payments and advice from a range of agencies such as Orkney Citizens Advice Bureau, THAW Orkney, Relationships Scotland Orkney, the Community Learning and Development Team and Employability Support.

“If your query is not answered via the information contained within the newsletter then our housing officers are available to help and provide support. The earlier people get in touch with us if they think they may have an emerging issue then the sooner we can help – whether that be in regards to paying their rent, or issues relating to the fabric of the property. Please let us know as soon as possible as we are here to assist.”

The Housing Team can be contacted via 01856 873535 or by email.
