Hospitality course launch

Date: 15 May 2017

Time: 02:42

A new course in hospitality designed for people with learning difficulties is launched tomorrow (16 May 2017) by Orkney College UHI.

The course has been developed in discussion with local employers and provides people with the opportunity to work towards an SVQ Level 1 in Hospitality Services.

Anne Hill, the college’s Hospitality Department Curriculum Leader, said: “We’re pleased to be launching the course during Scotland’s national Learning Disability Week.

“Students taking the course will gain experience and a qualification that we hope will help them find work in the local hospitality sector.”

Potential students, along with their parents, guardians and carers, are invited to attend a launch event at 7pm tomorrow in the college’s Overblikk Restaurant.

Members of Orkney Health and Care’s all age learning disabilities team will be attending the opening and available for a chat or to provide further information.
