If you are unsure of how to occupy the days during the October school holidays, then look no further, for we have just the answer!
The Council’s Sport and Leisure Team and the Pickaquoy Centre are working with a range of partners, local groups and organisations to offer a fun packed programme of activities for the autumn break.

There’s free Orkney Rugby Football Club sessions at the KGS 3G pitch. Whilst you can enjoy Generation Pound, swimming pool sessions, arena inflatables, water walkerz and stepping stones and snorkels and flippers free through ActiveLife membership or non-members can pay to play!
For a charge you can also take part in bubble football, Learn to Swim Week, crafts and games.

We are encouraging people who are registered users and ActiveLife Members to book online where possible www.orkney.gov.uk/booknow
The quickest and easiest way to book is online, using your ActiveLife or Casual User login.
Login using your email and password (if you can’t remember your login details or haven’t booked a course through OIC before, select “forgotten password” and follow the steps)
Select your child’s name from the drop-down menu near the top of the page
Click “Courses and Holiday Activities”
Click on “Groups” filter, and select “October Holiday Programme 2024”
Select the activity you would like your child to attend
Fill in the medical and photo consent information box and remember to hit “save”
Click “enrol and continue” to take you to your basket
If you wish to add further days or activities, click “continue shopping”

Please include any medical information and whether you consent to your child being included in marketing photos.
The Council’s Leisure and Culture Service Manager, Garry Burton, said: “The teams work really hard alongside a range of partners, local groups and organisations to provide lots of activities to participate in locally during the October break.
“This is not just about keeping active but about getting families together to socialise, to meet up with old friends and hopefully make some new ones.”
The Council’s Chair of the Education, Leisure and Housing Committee, Councillor Gwenda Shearer, added: “I know a huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes to bring these packed programmes together, so I hope many families are able to take the opportunity to enjoy the activities on offer.”
