Garson recycling centre disruption ahead

Due to operational reasons outwith the Council’s control the Garson Recycling Centre will be closed on Friday 3, Saturday 4, Sunday 5, and Monday 6 December inclusive.

It is expected to return to normal opening hours on Tuesday 7 December.

Meanwhile the Council’s waste team has rearranged operations to keep the site open today (Wednesday 1 Dec) and tomorrow so as to avoid a closure without notice.

In the meantime we’d remind householders that Cursiter Recycling Centre can receive recyclable items only from Monday to Friday; the Hatston Recycling Centre can receive household waste and recycling from Tuesday to Sunday. The remaining waste and recycling facilities in Orkney continue to operate as normal.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are seeking to ensure minimal disruption to services as far as possible. We’d thank members of the public in advance for their patience meantime.
