Garden House on the market

Garden House – the former headquarters of NHS Orkney – goes up for sale on the open market today (Monday 13 January). 

The building was purchased by the Council from NHS Orkney in March 2007 and then leased back to them until the end of March 2022, when they vacated the building. 

In June 2018 capital budget was approved for the building to be extensively refurbished, extended and renovated to create office space for Voluntary Action Orkney. In February 2024 VAO advised the Council they were going for a different option which better suited their current needs. 

A report subsequently came to Elected Members at the end of last year recommending that the property be sold – potentially offering an exciting development opportunity for the private sector. 

The building is a two-storey self-contained office building constructed in the late 1980s.  It is of a concrete block construction and includes a car park with 23 spaces.
