Four additional Deputy Lieutenants have been appointed in Orkney to assist the Lord-Lieutenant with his official duties.

Stephen Hagan, from Westray, a former Convener of Orkney Islands Council, will represent the Lord-Lieutenant in the North Isles, whilst Elaine Grieve will look after Hoy, Graemsay, Walls and Flotta.

Ms Grieve is a former head teacher and former Assistant Chief Executive and Director of Corporate Services of OIC.

Craig Spence, Chief Executive of Orkney Housing Association, will watch over Kirkwall, Orphir and St Ola, whilst Sarah Scarth, from Birsay - who practices medicine as Dr Stevenson in the Skerryvore Practice - will help the Vice Lord-Lieutenant overview the West Mainland.

All were presented with their Commissions on Friday 19 January during a Lieutenancy reception held in Kirkwall.
