Folk Festival road closure reminder for Stromness

The Council is reminding the public there will be road closures and traffic changes in central Stromness next week in relation to the Folk Festival, starting Thursday 26 May and carrying through to Sunday evening (29 May).

Victoria Street (from No 14 Victoria Street to the junction with Church Road) and Ferry Road (from No 14a Victoria Street to its junction with Victoria Street) will be closed to vehicles between the hours of 10:00am and 18:00pm on Saturday 28 May 2022 and Sunday 29 May 2022.

Parking will also be prohibited in the parking bays located between 14 - 16 Victoria Street and also the bays between 14a to 16 Victoria Street (Ferry Road) - from 08:00am on Thursday 26 May 2022 to 23.59pm on Sunday 29 May 2022.

A temporary one-way system will also be introduced, sending traffic in an easterly direction from Victoria Street to Ferry Road – using the small section of road between the Warehouse Buildings and Wisharts - from Thursday morning (26 May) to late on Sunday evening (11:59pm 29 May).

Signage will be in place for all parking and traffic changes. Council crews will be assisting the Folk Festival with the closures which are aimed at ensuring a safe and enjoyable Folk Festival for all. As always, please take extra care when driving around anyone working on our roads.
