Festive opening hours for Waste Management Sites

Below are changes to the normal opening hours at the Council's Waste Management Sites over the festive period, for commercial customers and householders.

Normal operating hours will resume at all sites from Wednesday 3 January 2024. (You can check normal opening hours here www.orkney.gov.uk/hwrc - please consult this in conjunction with the changes outlines below).

Information for Household Recycling and Waste Users only

Cursiter Quarry Recycling Point

The Cursiter Recycling Point will close at 3.15pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and will not reopen until 8am on Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Hatston and Garson Recycling Centres and St Margaret’s Hope Recycling Point

The above recycling centres or points will be closed on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 December 2023. Then closed on Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 January 2024. They will remain open on other days as per normal hours throughout and after the festive period.

Closed 03/01/24 until 11:30am due to weather damage

Bossack Recycling Centre

The Bossack Recycling Centre will be closed on Saturday 23, Sunday 24, Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 December 2023. Then closed on Saturday 30, Sunday 31 December 2023, and Monday 1 and Tuesday 2 January 2024. This site will remain open on other days as per normal hours throughout and after the festive period.

Information for Business Waste Users only

Bossack Landfill Site (Commercial users)

The Landfill Site at Bossack will close at 3.45pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and will not reopen until 8am on Wednesday 3 January 2024.

Chinglebraes Waste Transfer Station (Commercial users)

The Waste Transfer Station at Chinglebraes will be closed on Monday 25, Tuesday 26 December 2023 and Monday 1, Tuesday 2 January 2024. It will remain open on other days as per normal hours throughout and after the festive period.
