Ferry vouchers to be valid for longer

Date: 26 August 2019

Time: 03:53

Orkney Ferries is to extend the period multi-journey books of vouchers are valid for.

From Sunday 1 September, books of 10, 20 or 50 vouchers can be used for up to 500 days from the date of purchase.

The vouchers – which reduce the cost of travel on the county’s inter-island ferry routes - are currently valid for a year. The increase follows requests from customers to the Board of Orkney Ferries.

On-board ticketing machines will be updated to recognise the new 500-day use-by period for each book of vouchers.

Passengers need to take no further action. But those who would like an updated expiry date for their own records should get in touch with Orkney Ferries at Shore Street, Kirkwall, or by phone on 01856872044.

Passengers are reminded that they need to present their book of vouchers when travelling – including the front cover, which is known as the control portion.
