Ewan’s all smiles as he completes the London marathon
Date: 22 April 2024
There was smiles all round for the Council’s Ewan Kennedy at both the starting and finishing lines of Sunday’s London marathon!
Ewan, Graduate Trainee (Digital Engagement & Enterprise) at OIC, finished the 26.2 mile race in 4 hours and 29 minutes – one minute under his target time!
Following the experience, he said: “The highs were definitely seeing other runners all running for various causes, chasing different goals, all being cheered on. The crowd were unbelievable, and the atmosphere was fantastic.
“I saw some great costumes along the race, a group of people running in a cardboard bus, someone dressed as the Blackpool tower and Pirahna from the Masked Singer!
“I definitely hit a wall around the 23-24 mile mark but the crowd gets you to the finish line.”
Ewan has managed to avoid any blisters but concedes that getting up out of a chair or climbing the stairs is taking a bit longer than normal!
“All absolutely worth it for ticking the London marathon off the bucket list!” he said.
