Doon the Coast Photography Competition Returns for 2024

“Hit Me With Your Best Shot!” is the ask from Orkney Harbours with the return of their Doon the Coast photography competition in 2024. 

This, the third year of the competition, is asking folk in Orkney to enter their best photos from “A Day by the Sea” within the following three categories: 

• Wildlife and nature 
• Boats and ships 
• Coastal life 

There’s a further category for under 18s, with parents or guardians encouraged to send in images taken by any budding young photographers. 

Each category winner will receive a £100 Kirkwall BID voucher, whilst the winner of the under 18s section will receive a Paper Shoot Camera, and two runner-ups will win a three-month cinema membership at the Pickaquoy Centre. 

Entries are open to anyone based in Orkney, of any age, any ability and using any digital camera, including your phone. The image must’ve been captured within the last 12 months and can be landscape, portrait or square – and as high resolution as possible. 

Submissions are open until Sunday 16 June.
