Cursiter Quarry Extension Decision Deferred
Date: 10 June 2020
Time: 04:49
A decision on whether or not to grant planning permission for an extension to the council-owned Cursiter Quarry in Finstown has been deferred for a site visit in due course.
The application was discussed at an online meeting of the Council's Planning Committee today (9 June 2020).
Five councillors voted in favour of refusing the application, with five voting for a deferral for a site visit. Committee Chair, Councillor Rob Crichton, used his casting vote in favour of a site visit.
The expansion plan could see the quarry increase in size over the next three decades expanding into the neighbouring fields. The planning application also covers landscaping and future restoration of the site.
Further details on the application are available in the planning committee section.
