Cruise shuttle bus contract awarded

Orkney Transport has been awarded the contract to continue running the cruise shuttle bus service locally. 

The shuttle bus is an integral part of the services provided to cruise liners berthing at Hatston Pier in Kirkwall when the vessels visit Orkney during the cruise season. 

The contract runs from 3 February 2025 for three years with an option to extend for a further two years. 

Chair of the Council’s Development and Infrastructure Committee and Harbour Authority Sub-committee, Councillor Kristopher Leask, said: “The awarding of the contract to Orkney Transport allows the Council’s Harbour Authority to offer a continuity of service to our cruise passengers. 

“Orkney attracts over 100 cruise ships to Hatston Pier each year and this service is part of the first class offer that Orkney provides. We will work with Orkney Transport to look at continual improvements in the service that benefit Orkney in providing a sustainable tourism future.”
