The Council's selfless staff - who do a power of good work within their communities in addition to their day jobs - are being recognised nationally.
The Press & Journal newspaper have joined forces with the OIC to highlight our staff campaign - raising awareness of the fantastic work done by members of our workforce in all our communities.
The newspaper have kicked off with Pat Robinson who is Chief Finance Officer with Orkney Health and Care, but who also started and runs the Orkney Deaf Children's Society.
They have followed up with Joan Jones and Joyce Gray - Joan has taken over as Director of Samaritans in Orkney, alongside her day job at the Council, while Joyce Gray knits and crochets blankets and doll's clothes, filling shoeboxes with the treasures as part of the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal.
Others will follow in due course.
We are delighted that staff members who are going above and beyond are receiving the recognition they deserve.
