Contract awarded for initial designs of new nursery at Orkney College

Orkney Islands Council has appointed consultants to work up initial designs for the proposed new nursery on the grounds at Orkney College.

After a competitive tendering exercise, Robert Potter Partners LLP were appointed in late May and have already been in Orkney (last week) for a site visit.

The brief for the new nursery includes ambitious requirements for thermal efficiency, capacity for up to 53 children along with necessary staff, and dedicated parking for the facility.

The architectural firm will work on the designs over the summer and its expected these will be presented to the Council’s Policy and Resources committee in the autumn as part of a Stage 2 Capital Project Appraisal to consider the costs and funding of the development.
