Community urged to input into planning survey
Date: 6 December 2024

Local folk who’ve interacted with the Council’s Development Management - or planning - team in the last year are being encouraged to feed their views about their experience into a national survey.
The annual survey – being carried out on behalf of all local planning authorities by the National Planning Improvement Team – will help to build a picture of the planning system across Scotland, including what is working well and where improvements can be made.
This short survey - which is anonymous - is intended to be filled out by all users of planning authorities in Scotland to collect their views on the service they have received.
The National Planning Improvement team will publish the results of the survey at the beginning of next year and each planning authority will be provided with a breakdown for their area.
Hayley Green is the Council’s Corporate Director of Neighbourhood Services. She said: “Our small planning team deal with a huge number of applications every year – from small householder developments like a single home or a change in the look of a historic property, to large-scale developments like social housing sites or wind farm projects.
“It can be a long process that people go through as they work with our team to submit their planning application and it’s right and proper that we take some time to look at those processes and see where improvements might be made or where things are working well.
“We welcome the launch of the national survey, would urge local folk to take part and look forward to receiving the follow up report.”
The survey can be accessed here - National Planning Improvement - Customer and Stakeholder Survey and runs to 8 December 2024.
