Children’s Hearings Scotland is recruiting volunteers in Orkney
Date: 21 June 2021
Time: 01:31
Children’s Hearings Scotland in Orkney is looking for people who have good assessment, observation, and communication skills to join our team as a volunteer Panel Practice Advisor.
Panel Practice Advisors are responsible for selecting and recommending Panel Members for appointment. They also regularly observe Panel Members within children's hearings and feedback so improvements can be made. Their goal is to support Panel Members through feedback to ensure the strongest possible decisions are being made for infants, children, young people and families in the local area.
Ian Blair is Area Convenor of the Orkney Area Support Team (AST) Children’s Hearings Scotland:
"Panel Practice Advisors have a really important role to play and are very much welcomed by Panel Members. We need friendly folk who can empathise with Panel Members and appreciate the stress they sometimes encounter in a Children's Hearing."
Children’s Hearings Scotland are seeking people who are enthusiastic and committed to securing the rights of children and young people and improving their outcomes and experiences. You need to work well as part of a team and be a strong communicator. You should also be familiar with working with volunteers and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to and understanding of the ethos of Children’s Hearings Scotland.
Full training is provided, with the aim to enhance your skills in leadership, effective communication, managing conflict and influencing and negotiating – all of which are transferable into the workplace.
Anyone interested in applying and looking for more information about the role is invited to join an Information Session on Thursday 24 June at 7.00pm on Microsoft Teams. To register for the session and to receive an invitation to the event, please email Annette Feeney.
