Changes to bus services from Monday 22 May - including X1 service

Bus timetable changes from 22 May for X1 (St Margarets Hope – Kirkwall – Stromness)

Bus users are advised there are significant changes to the X1 service (St Margarets Hope – Kirkwall – Stromness) from Monday 22 May.

Service 5 and X10 bus services will also see minor changes. No other timetable changes have been made to services.

The changes are:

Service X1:

The revised timetable is available at www.orkney.gov.uk/bus. Please note that timing point changes have been made throughout the week with the view to provide better onwards connectivity at St Margaret’s Hope where possible and when applicable. Passengers should also note that both X1 night buses will be leaving Kirkwall at 00:35, on a Friday and Saturday - one bus leaving for St Margaret’s Hope and the other to Stromness. These will both be marked X1 followed by the destination, so passengers should take a moment to check they are on the correct bus before boarding.
The X1 is a commercial service run by Stagecoach and not part of the Council’s public bus contract.

Service 5:

The commercial Service 5 (Houton to Stromness) has been rolled into the X1 timetable – please check the revised X1 timetable for timing points to and from Houton.

Service X10:

The X10 evening Hatston ferry link bus times have also been revised slightly.

Service 2:

The Sunday bus timetable has been amended to provide improved connectivity to the ferry from Houton.
