Carers Survey reminder

Date: 1 September 2023

Orkney Health and Care are issuing a final call for unpaid carers to have their say about the support they need, by taking part in the short survey circulated after the Carers Conference in May.

Feedback from the survey will help inform the new Carers Strategy – a set of ambitions for supporting Orkney’s unpaid carers, due to be published this autumn.

Shaun Hourston Wells is Project Officer for OHAC - he’s been considering feedback from May’s Carers Conference to help prepare the new strategy. He says it’s important folk who couldn’t make it to the conference, or haven’t yet replied to emails from the Council or Crossroads Orkney, still have their say:

“Unpaid carers are the backbone of our community providing vital care and brightening the lives of vulnerable folk – but we need to make sure there is support in place so they can also look after their own health and enjoy life.

“We want the new Unpaid Carers Strategy to reflect the challenges carers face here in Orkney, and the steps carers tell us would make their role easier and improve quality of life for carers and those they care for.

“The survey only takes two minutes to complete – anyone who’s not yet completed it can do so at www.orkney.gov.uk/carerssurvey.”

Folks are asked to complete the survey by 5pm on Monday 11 September.
