Calling all senior students and parents – exam support dates for your diaries!

Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) exam results will be published on Tuesday 6 August 2024. Candidates who signed up to the MySQA service will receive their results by email or text at around 8am, and they will be posted to all candidates.
There is lots of support available to learners in understanding results and planning next steps.
If you think there is something wrong with a result, you may be able to appeal. Deadlines for making an appeal are:
Tuesday 13 August at 11:59pm for priority appeals (where you have a conditional offer for a university or college place dependent on the result).
Tuesday 27 August at 11:59pm for all other appeals.
If you are reconsidering your next steps, whether that is a change of school course options, a different career path or college course, or needing help with UCAS clearing, there is help available from schools, UHI Orkney and Skills Development Scotland as follows:
Kirkwall Grammar School
Mr Ewing (SQA Co-ordinator) will be available on 6, 7 and 8 August from 9am -1pm. Mrs Firth (Guidance Manager) and Ms Taylor (Principal Teacher of Guidance) will be available from 9am-1pm on 6 August. Appointments to discuss course changes will take place with Guidance Teachers on the afternoon of Monday 19 August; to make an appointment please contact the school office from 6 August onwards.
Stromness Academy
Mr Barber, Mrs Wild and Mrs Johansen (Guidance Manager) will be available from 9am-1pm on Tuesday 6 August. Support will also be available in school at the same times on Wednesday 7 August. Appointments to discuss course changes will take place with Guidance Teachers on the afternoon of Monday 19 August; to make an appointment please contact the school office.
Sanday Community School
Mrs Muir will be available in school on 6 August for pupils and parents to drop in or phone with any queries.
Stronsay Junior High School
Dr McLay will be available by phone on 6 August between 10am and 12noon for any queries.
Westray Junior High School
If you have any questions or queries, please contact Mrs Rendall from 8:30am on 6 August by email or in person at school between 1pm and 3pm.
UHI Orkney (formerly known as Orkney College)

Skills Development Scotland
SDS Careers Advisers will be available to support pupils with exam results this year from the local Careers Centre at 2 Albert Street. Drop-in will be available on the day and throughout Wednesday and Thursday for any pupils or parents/carers requiring support with future plans. Orkney Careers Advisers can also be accessed by calling 872460, or you can also call the Skills Development Scotland national results helpline to speak to a qualified Careers Adviser on 0800 100 8000.
