Business and community reps sought
Date: 15 August 2022
Time: 04:00
Orkney Islands Council is looking for three new members from the business, community and third sectors to act as representatives on its sub-committee known as the Orkney College Management Council.
If you have a keen interest in further and higher education and research and would be prepared to give up a few hours a month to contribute towards the development of Orkney College, we would love to hear from you.
Beccy May, who has more than 30 years’ business experience, has been a business rep on the management council for two years and says she has found it an “invaluable experience”.
“To be able to help set the direction that the College is taking over the coming years is at once rewarding and also tremendously useful since it gives business owners the opportunity to understand how the College can help supply Orkney's businesses with an appropriately skilled workforce through the courses it offers. And where there are gaps in provision, how these might be best filled by the introduction of new more relevant courses within the College and UHI as a whole.
“All in all, a great way to contribute to Orkney's economic success going into the future."
We are looking for three additional members to join the management council (two community representatives and one business representative).
Expressions of interest should be submitted, in writing, by Wednesday, 31 August to Hazel Flett, Team Manager (Committees), Orkney Islands Council, Council Offices, Kirkwall, KW15 1NY or email hazel.flett@orkney.gov.uk.
