Building Surveys
Date: 1 September 2020
Time: 01:52
Delays to work due to high wind weather forecast - further dates will be announced soon.
Orkney Islands Council is advising that they are undertaking our periodic high-level building surveys on some of their facilities from 4 September 2020.
There will be some traffic restrictions in place during the works as they will involve a crane to gain access to the externals to allow a full inspection of the building fabric, from ridge to ground level. This is subject to the prevailing wind speeds being suitable for crane operation.
Each site set up will begin around 08:00 with survey work beginning around 09:00 and due to take most of the day, however efforts will be made to minimise any disruptions caused.
Details of the works are below:
- 4 September - Stromness town hall. Church road will be closed during these works.
- 5 September - School place (Council Offices). School place will be closed in the morning, the crane will move round to the car park behind the building later on, meaning the road through the car park will be closed.
- 6 September - Orkney Museum. The junction with Tankerness Lane / Broad Street, Victoria Street will be closed during the works.
- 11 September - Stromness townhouse. Victoria street will be closed during the works.
- 12 September - Paterson building (Council Offices). Some car park bays within the car park at the guide hall will be out of use during the works.
- 13 September - Kirkwall Town Hall. One lane will be closed on Broad Street so traffic restrictions will be in place.
We would like to thank the public in advance for their understanding and patience during these works and every effort will be made to ensure that any disruption to traffic will be minimised.
