Breaking Barriers for youth mental health at Orkney Arts Theatre
Date: 6 March 2017
Time: 10:49
Young people and mental health will be the focus of a youth arts performance event at the Orkney Arts Theatre next Saturday night (Saturday 11 March).
Breaking Barriers will feature music, inspirational readings, poetry, film and dance performances from local young people and community groups and organisations, giving them the opportunity to showcase their many talents.
The audience will also be given an opportunity to put questions about mental health to a panel of representatives from YPeople, Women’s Aid, Relationships Scotland and the Blide Trust.
All proceeds will go to the YoungMinds charity, which focuses on mental health in young people.
The event has been put together by staff and young people from the Orkney Youth Café and runs in the same week as Health Week at Kirkwall Grammar School. The young folk from the Youth Café have also produced a short film which will be shown as part of the performance and during the Health Week activities at KGS.
The event will be compered by Jack Norquay and Gwenda Shearer.
The event will take place on Saturday 11 March at the Arts Theatre from 19:30. Tickets are available on the door at a cost of £2 per person.
