Armed Forces Day marked in Orkney

People have the chance to show their appreciation and support for Orkney’s links with the military when this year’s Armed Forces Day is marked on Saturday, June 29. 

The Council is flying the Union flag at the Kirkwall Town Hall all week to support the Armed Forces family. 

Orkney Islands Council Convener, Graham Bevan, said: “Armed Forces Day will be particularly poignant this year because of recent commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. 

“The Council is flying the Union flag this week to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces, from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.”
