Area 8 waste collection disruption - Wednesday 28 August 2024

As at 1:45pm on Wednesday 28 August 2024:

Today’s waste collection in Area 8 has been affected by a vehicle breakdown.

We hope to get another vehicle out later this afternoon but meantime please note Windwick Road is effectively blocked (at the junction above the Windwick lookout) while we cajole a poorly lorry to somewhere a little more helpful (hopefully within the hour).

We will be trying our very best to get round to folks who’ve not yet had their waste collected, with the remaining vehicles we have, in the next 24 hours – if your bins haven’t been emptied yet, please leave them out until 5pm tonight, and have them out again by 8am tomorrow if they’re still not emptied by close of play today.

We can’t guarantee we will get round to everyone due to an already tight daily collection schedule - we’ll keep you posted via local media and our facebook page.

Update as at 3:35pm on 28 August:

The broken down lorry has been recovered and the Windwick Road is open now.

We've now got two vehicles down in the area catching up. It's unlikely that we'll get to all households so if your waste is not collected today, please leave it out for collection tomorrow morning, by 8am.
