A group of students from Kirkwall Grammar School are appealing to local businesses for support in the latest chapter of their antiracism campaign. 

There was smiles all round for the Council’s Ewan Kennedy at both the starting and finishing lines of Sunday’s London marathon! 

Orkney’s “Queen o’ the Isles” – Westray – is a very special community and the Council is seeking an equally special person to lead the island’s school. 

“London’s Calling” for the Council’s Ewan Kennedy – as our digital whizz leading on engagement around landline phone changes - will be taking to the streets of the city to participate in Sunday’s marathon. 

An event is being held in Stromness next week which will kickstart the Orkney Local Development Plan review process. 

An update of road closures and delays due to roadworks, events and cruise in the county:

Record-breaking swimming duo – Eve Wood and Alfie Price – have struck gold at the recent Scottish National Age Group Championships (SNAGS) in Aberdeen. 

Thanks to your help in recent times, we have been able to find private rented homes for a number of key worker posts both for here at the Council and for our colleagues at NHS Orkney. 

Orkney Islands Council is reminding the public of the planned road closure on the Brodgar Road starting next week, with a significant detour for drivers and impacts on the 8S and X1 public bus services.
