  • 2022 Athlete Travel Award Scheme Profile – Kelly Skea

    Kelly is one of 11 local athletes benefiting from the sportscotland Athlete Travel Award Scheme (ATAS). The Scheme is an ongoing partnership between sportscotland and the participating local authorities in Highlands & Islands - Orkney Islands, Western Isles, Shetland Islands and Highlands Councils.

    Orkney Islands Council is extremely grateful to also have a partnership with Stagecoach which allows us to enhance and extend our programme in Orkney.

  • Students to serve up festive treat in aid of the Orkney Foodbank

    Orkney College UHI students and pupils from KGS will be serving up a tasty example of giving this Christmas.

    NC Administration students and Foundation Apprenticeship Hospitality pupils are hosting an event to raise awareness of the Foodbank in Orkney whilst also giving folk the chance to sample a Christmas cracker of a tasting menu – with the focus on good food and good value.

    The students will also be sharing ideas on how to reduce food waste.

    Just weeks after winning a national award for its outstanding welcome to visitors, now Custodian/Visitor Services Officer, Fran Hollinrake, will be sharing more information on the national stage about the building’s historic graffiti.

    Fran will be presenting a talk at Making Your Mark 2022, the Historic Graffiti Symposium in York on Saturday 19 November.

    Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users during the Remembrance Day service and wreath laying ceremony in Broad Street, Kirkwall.
