Students to serve up festive treat in aid of the Orkney Foodbank
Orkney College UHI students and pupils from KGS will be serving up a tasty example of giving this Christmas.
NC Administration students and Foundation Apprenticeship Hospitality pupils are hosting an event to raise awareness of the Foodbank in Orkney whilst also giving folk the chance to sample a Christmas cracker of a tasting menu – with the focus on good food and good value.
The students will also be sharing ideas on how to reduce food waste.

Just weeks after winning a national award for its outstanding welcome to visitors, now Custodian/Visitor Services Officer, Fran Hollinrake, will be sharing more information on the national stage about the building’s historic graffiti.
Fran will be presenting a talk at Making Your Mark 2022, the Historic Graffiti Symposium in York on Saturday 19 November.

The Orkney Islands Council (Remembrance Day) (Temporary Closure) Order 2022

Emergency road works at Graemeshall from Thursday 3 November
The B9052 (at Graemeshall) will be closed from tomorrow, from Churchill Barrier No. 1 to the Holm war memorial, for the remainder of this week to enable the Council to carry out emergency works on the sea wall to reinstate blocks that have moved in recent bad weather. School transport and public bus services will be unaffected.

OLECG praise “community spirited” response to challenging flash floods
Members of the Orkney Local Emergency Co-ordinating Group have praised the “community spirited Team Orkney effort” during today’s extreme flooding conditions across the county.
OLECG – which includes a broad range of organisations such as the Council, emergency and public services, transport providers, the utilities and voluntary sector – convened at short notice to review the fast-paced flooding situation affecting many areas throughout Orkney.
