The Council’s Transportation Service is keen to hear feedback from residents and frequent travellers to Rousay, Egilsay, Wyre and Shapinsay to help shape a new electric ferry service to be trialled in the areas. 

A survey is being launched today to gather local views on potential changes to the services provided by Orkney Islands Council - as the local authority begins to plan for its budget setting process in February.  

Letters have been sent to Orkney Islands Council council house tenants (Friday 29 November) asking for their views on rent increases for the next three years. 

A feasibility study is being carried out to identify and explore ways of making Ferry Road in Stromness a more attractive and accessible route for young people walking, wheeling and cycling to school.

Following a successful 12-week consultation on the draft Orkney Islands Regional Marine Plan, the Council’s Marine Planning Team will now be carefully considering the raft of comments received and updating the draft plan.
