Orkney Islands Council continue to support displaced people affected by the war in Ukraine through Homes for Ukraine scheme.
Homes for Ukraine
Homes for Ukraine scheme allows households to sponsor and host refugees who are fleeing the war in Ukraine. The scheme is offering a monthly payment of £350 in exchange for accommodation (spare room / self-contained accommodation) for a minimum of six months.

Refugee Resettlement Team
OIC Resettlement Team support Ukrainian displaced persons to transition and settle in Orkney. The purpose of the team is to help displaced persons build independence. This is achieved by working with Ukrainian displaced persons at home and in the community.
Key integration areas include:
- Housing
- Language learning
- Education
- Health and Wellbeing
- Social integration
- Employability
As well as supporting Ukrainian displaced persons, the Resettlement Team provide advice and assistance to the sponsors; and is in touch throughout the hosting period to make sure the arrangements are continuing well.
