Scottish Water teams are working to restore normal service to customers in Stronsay, after a ‘boil notice’ was issued on Sunday afternoon. Action was taken on a precautionary basis after samples from the island’s drinking water network did not meet strict regulatory standards.

The Care Inspectiate carried out an inspection of our Sheltered Housing Service in October, across the two sites of Lambaness in Kirkwall and Raes Close in Stromness.

Scottish Water will be going door to door this evening (17 December) issuing customers on Stronsay in Orkney with a boil water notice instruction for drinking.

Public views are being sought on timetable changes to the X1 bus service for the period April to October, which would see additional drop offs at the Standing Stones of Stenness, the Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae.

A volunteer group formed at a public meeting last night (13 December 2023) will be taking forward further discussions and exploring feasibility work on the future of the Tomb of the Eagles site in South Ronaldsay.
