Waste and recycling arrangements for upcoming Easter break

Waste Service Update

Orkney Islands Council is advising of waste and recycling arrangements over the upcoming Easter break. 

Easter Sunday - 31 March 2024 

Household Waste and Recycling Centres at Hatston, Garson and St Margarets Hope will open as usual. 
  

Easter Monday – 1 April 2024 

  • Kerbside waste and recycling collections will be going ahead as normal.
  • Hatston, Bossack and Garson will be closed as per normal for a Monday.
  • Cursiter Amenity site (recycling) will be closed as the quarry will be closed due to the public holiday.
  • St Margarets Hope Amenity site (recycling) will be closed due to the public holiday.
  • Chinglebraes will be open for commercial customers as usual (8am to 12.30pm then 1pm to 4pm). 

Please remember, our household waste and recycling centres are very popular on weekends. So if you are having a clear out and have a few days off during the school holiday please consider making your trip to the tip on a weekday. 

(Remember Hatston, Bossack and Garson will be closed on Easter Monday, as per normal for a Monday)
