Storm Babet

Date: 17 October 2023

Barrier 1

Batten down the hatches and tie down the trampolines folks!

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind on Thursday 19  and Friday 20 October.

Storm Babet will bring a period of very strong southeasterly winds to much of central and northern Scotland, with Orkney forecast to experience gusts up to 60-70 mph.

If you have travel planned, check with your transport provider for any cancellations.

Note there is a high risk of disruption across many providers - and anyone travelling further south should also be mindful of the Amber rain warnings in place for parts of mainland Scotland in coming days, and the already significant levels of rainfall experienced across areas including the Highlands, Perthshire and Argyll & Bute last week.

At home – please do make sure yards are ready for the high winds expected and cleared of anything which might become an airborne hazard.
