roadworks update

A summing up of road works underway or soon to start in the county - for week starting Monday 31 July 2023.

A965, Finstown - Resurfacing work on the A965 in Finstown (between the junction with Heddle Road and Baikie’s Stores) has temporarily paused for the time being whilst the tar plant is offline for its annual routine maintenance. Although the traffic lights have been removed from site until 14 August, drivers are still being advised to drive carefully through the site as there are ramped sections throughout.

Work will then move to phase 3 (from the Finstown Post Office to Grandon Road) on 14 August with works expected to finish mid-September.

Residents within the signed traffic management area should present their bins as they normal for collection.

Ingnaess Road, Kirkwall - Streetlighting and footway resurfacing works on Inganess Road are ongoing. The works are currently at the junction of Berstane Loan and Inganess Road, with traffic being controlled by temporary traffic signals. Unfortunately, the work is likely to cause some delays to the No 9 Kirkwall Town bus service.

Dounby Primary School Car Park - The resurfacing works in Dounby Primary School car park have now been completed.

Marwick Drive, Kirkwall - Marwick Drive patching the near junction with Stromberry from 14 - 16 August 2023 will inevitably cause some short delays to the No 9 Kirkwall town bus service due to temporary traffic management.

Openreach

Kirbister Road, Stromness - Openreach works on Kirbister Road, Stromness are ongoing until 19 September. In order to carry out the works safely the road will be closed.
