Looking for Lucy!

We are looking for all the “Lucy’s” to have led the Norwegian Tree Lighting procession at St Magnus Cathedral between 1997 and 2022.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the procession in Orkney and it is planned to put on a special event to commemorate the occasion.
If you were a “Lucy” then please get in touch with our Democratic Services team via Democratic.Services@orkney.gov.uk as we would love you to take part in the 2023 procession.
The ceremony, which marks the Scandinavian feast of St Lucy, is celebrated as a festival of light. The procession of St Lucy and her attendants pays homage to the tradition by our Scandinavian friends.
